We had the joy of attending the ribbon-cutting and grand opening for Forestbrook Estates on September 26 at the community’s main entrance. Standing there with neighbors, city leaders, and the development team, it truly felt like we were watching a new chapter open for Paris, Texas.

What made the day especially meaningful was the reason we gathered. The event marked the opening of the new public streets for Phase I of the project. It has been many years since Paris has seen new public streets open, and hearing that ribbon snap felt like a milestone for all of us who live and work here.

Phase I includes 87 home sites and is the start of the larger Forestbrook Planned Development, a nearly 200-acre master plan that will bring 471 single-family homes, parks, and a commercial and retail corridor to our community. As people who care deeply about thoughtful growth and the quality of life in Northeast Texas, we are encouraged by the vision and the attention to creating both homes and gathering spaces.

During the ceremony, Nathan Spaulding, manager and general counsel for Lone Star Planned Developments, LLC, spoke about the collaboration behind the project. He shared how this development has been a team effort with the City of Paris from the very beginning. Three mayors have played key roles along the way: former Mayor Paula Portugal, former Mayor Reginald Hughes, and current Mayor Mihir Pankaj. All three were present for the ribbon cutting, which felt like the perfect symbol of steady leadership and shared commitment to Paris’s future.

Walking the new streets and picturing families moving in, kids biking to the park, and neighbors grabbing coffee along the future retail corridor gave us a hopeful glimpse of what is ahead. Forestbrook Estates is the first master-planned community in Paris in many decades, and it shows. The planning, the partnerships, and the long-term vision are already visible on the ground.
